Delta Central Senatorial Election Begins With Low Turnout

The election for the seat of the Senator representing Delta senatorial district in the Senate commenced amidst heavy security presence in all the 8 local government area under Delta central senatorial district.
While monitoring the election in Ughelli north and south local government area as well as Uvwie and Okpe local government area of Delta state, our correspondent who was on ground to monitor the election disclosed that the election witnessed low turnout of voters at all the polling centres visited, even though some of the shops and business premises were under lock, most of the indigenes of the area gathered in groups in front of their compounds discussing.
It was also reported that as at 11:30am, INEC officials were yet to arrive polling units, while some electorates arrived polling centres as early as 8am for accreditation; the electoral officials were not on ground to commence the process.
Candidates Express Optimism
Voting started at about 1:30pm in most of the local government areas in the Delta central senatorial district election in Delta state.
As electorates cast their votes, candidates of different political parties contesting for the seat expressed optimism that they will emerge victorious in the election.
Speaking to Channels Television after casting his vote, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress O’Tega Emerhor said  his party remains the only party that will liberate the Urhobo nation from the shackles of under development adding that he remains a candidate to beat in the election.
Meanwhile, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Emmanuel Aguariavwodo has insisted that PDP is the only party in Delta state and he has no doubt about him emerging victorious at the polls.
However, some supporters of the All Progressives Congress have accused INEC officials in otu geremi, Ughelli south local government area of the state  of collaborating with the people’s Democratic Party to disenfranchise their supporters as INEC officials have refused to conduct elections in Ewu 1,2,3 wards and Ekaprame ward in the local government area.
Although, supporters of People’s Democratic Party have debunked all these allegations stating that it is obvious that APC will lose the election.

SSANU SUSPENDS STRIKE!!!

SSANU had been on strike for about one week.

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has announced the suspension of its week-long strike. The suspension of the strike is contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday and signed by the union’s National Secretary, Promise Adewusi.

It said that the decision to suspend the strike was informed by the Federal Government’s compliance with the union’s demands.”Following substantial compliance to our demand for the payment of August and September salaries of our members which is the reason for our current national strike action, we hereby suspend the strike and direct all our members to return to their duties with effect from Monday, the 14th of October, 2013,” the statement read.

The statement thanked members of the union for their solidarity, adding that the non-payment of the salaries of its members for work done would not happen again. The stoppage of the strike by SSANU is not expected to lead to the return of students to the various public universities as university lecturers, ASUU, are still on strike.

The lecturers have been on strike since July 1 and have vowed to continue until the federal government implements a 2009 agreement it had with the union. The federal government has already ordered the stoppage the salaries of the striking lecturers.

3 Simple Steps To Improve Your Self-Confidence

Take a moment to rank your self-assurance right now. 10 is very confident (you speak your point of view; you offer your perspective in group settings; you form conclusions quickly without second-guessing) and zero is low or no self-assurance (you hold your thoughts and remarks back because you believe no one wishes to listen to them; you are unable to make up your mind; you are not able to make a decision without wanting to ask at least three people their opinions).Does your response surprise you? What if you and four friends each ranked yourselves, then tried to guess how others ranked themselves. Do you think you’d be close in your guess?

Here are three steps you can take today to improve your self-confidence.
Step 1: Name the emotion initially triggered as soon as you are in a heightened stress state. For example, say you are in the office and somebody else takes credit for a task you finished. What did you feel? Was it doubt? Worry? Rage? Disappointment? No matter what it is, simply acknowledge it. Don’t judge yourself for feeling it. That’s what we do as human beings; we feel! So go ahead and experience the emotion being triggered. By feeling the emotion, your self-confidence is raised due to having new found knowledge … and knowledge is empowering!
Step 2: Step up your emotion. If you are feeling rage, then look to raise your emotion to anger; if you feel doubt, then elevate your emotion to disappointment; if it’s worry, then move up your emotion to doubt. The secret is to elevate your emotion so that you can begin to notice a new perspective on the circumstance. With a new perspective, you are open to boosting your confidence regardless of how anyone else responds to the situation. Everything You Need To Know About Stress
Step 3: Execute! There are two parts to this step. First, you must execute the inferior emotion and elevate the inferior emotion. Then you must take action or execute the step(s) necessary to reinforce your self-confidence. Take at least one step to resolve the situation that is triggering your stress. Going back to our illustration of someone taking the credit for your job well done, a good action might be to approach the person who got the recognition and congratulate her on her victory while making sure to give yourself a pat on the back for taking the high road.

Out of self-confidence grows assurance and resilience. With every stride you take, the greater your resilience grows.

Man Removes His Genitals and Throws to Dogs

A 30-year-old man, Ejike is lying in critical condition in a private hospital in Nkpor near Onitsha after cutting off his manhood with a knife.
According to the information, Ejike, from Nkwelle Uke community in Idemili South Local Government Area of the state, used to be a luxurious bus conductor in Onitsha until he returned to the village recently.
He visited the village shrine and invoked the spirit of the deity before taking away kola nuts, offered to the gods, and starting from that moment his behavior had become strange.

It was learnt that last weekend, Ejike took a knife, cut off his penis and scrotum, and a strange dog suddenly appeared and ran away with his genitals.
Family members were said to have rushed him to the hospital immediately.
Yesterday Ejike was visited by journalists in the hospital, his private parts were completely bandaged while a catheter was fixed from the region where he passes urine.

The man refused to talk to the reporter and was mad when his sister arrived with his aged father.
He blurted out, saying he took the action in protest so that the family would know that he was not joking when he said he would cut his penis.

A lot of visitors in the hospital also said he had threatened to cut off his manhood in the past because his penis had disappointed him several times.

But the elder sister is sure that he acted under the influence of evil forces.
The Chief Medical Director, Crown Hospital Nkpor, Dr. Eddy Emegoaku confirmed that Ejike’s case was critical but declined further comments on his medical condition. - See more at: http://www.nigeriaonpoint.com/2013/10/man-cuts-off-his-genitals-and-throws-to.html#sthash.cNiilLxp.dpuf

HOW TRUE COULD THIS BE???

Recently divorced Nollywood star actressFunke Akindele, (Jenifa), may soon be heading for the altar, to make another attempt at marriage. That is, if what we gathered from insiders can be relied on.

The Glo Brand Ambassador, who endured a tumultuous marriage that barely lasted a year before walking out, is said to be head over heels in love with a young man who is called Bode. The chap, who was at one time an aide to former Ogun State GovernorOtunba Gbenga Daniels, is reported to have sent the prolific producer reeling in love and as a reward, he got a brand new Honda car last week and if all goes well, he may pop the question soon.

We are yet to hear from Funke but if it turns out to be true, we wish her all the best.

Some days ago, UNAIDS made Angola’s transsexual singer Titica one of its goodwill ambassadors

Born in Luanda as Teca Miguel Garcia, singer and dancer Titica adopted her female persona four years ago following a breast enhancement operation inBrazil.
Now, at twenty-six, Titica is the new face of Angola's unique urban rap-technofusion music style known as "kuduro".
